Sarah Storey wins 19th gold to extend Great Britain's record

Paralympian cyclist Sarah Storey wins 19th gold medal to move one ahead of swimmer Mike Kenny.

Dame Sarah Storey has won her 19th Paralympic gold medal to become Britain's most successful Paralympian ever across any sport.

The 43-year-old cyclist overtook swimmer Mike Kenny's previous record when she won the C4-5 road race at the Fuji International Speedway.

Storey, who has competed in eight Games, now has 28 Paralympic medals overall, with 19 golds, eight silvers and one bronze.

Storey's journey to the top

Storey was born in Manchester in 1977 and was diagnosed with ataxia telangiectasia, a rare genetic condition that affects the immune system and nervous system, when she was two years old.
