Vessel Suffered Major Fire, Now Undergoing Repairs
Damaged Cars, Heavy Fuel to be Removed
The severely damaged auto carrier Fremantle Highway has reached Eemshaven in the Netherlands, where it will undergo repairs and have its damaged cars and heavy fuel removed.
The vessel, owned by Japanese tonnage provider Shoei Kisen Kaisha and managed by Wallem, sustained significant damage in a major fire that broke out on January 12 while sailing off the coast of Spain.
The Fremantle Highway, which is under Panamanian flag, was towed to Eemshaven after the fire was extinguished, and has now arrived safely.
The damaged cars and heavy fuel will be removed and disposed of properly, while the vessel will be repaired to ensure its seaworthiness.
